Greetings from the President
Welcome to our site! My name is Alfredo, I am 35 years old and am president of this Association, whose goal it is to contribute to the development of a nation: Guinea-Bissau – from where I myself left 15 years ago. I am a pharmacist in Verona who like many other fellow countrymen live and work in Italy. We are all qualified in the fields of medicine, law and economics. After diverse experiences in Europe, particularly in Portugal and Italy, we began to contemplate how we could take advantage of what we have learnt in the West in order to help our country. This is simply because although Guinea-Bissau is so far away it is so very much rooted in our hearts. Therefore we decided to unite our abilities and know-how to really help our beloved land, stopping to moan about the state of affairs in Africa and instead pulling up our sleeves and getting on with tangible projects. After having analysed various situations to identify where we could genuinely act - based on our specific capacities and expertise – the fields of education and health were chosen. Having then seriously meditated on what exactly we could do, we all thought to engage our effort, time and resources to build an elementary school in Guinea-Bissau so that the children there have the opportunity to build their own future, contributing there to the hope of their country. We realised that to reach our objectives we would have to unite all our efforts and aims since only if we are united can we speak with one voice and get results. Division leads nowhere – only in unison we have the strength to change things. Furthermore we thought that our Association should have a Guinean soul since no one better than ourselves knows what the situation is like in our country. At the same time the Association is obviously open to all, Guineans and otherwise who share our hopes and methods in order to contribute to that unique and fruitful exchange of skills and know-how that is the only way to realise our projects. Now you have got to know us better, I sincerely hope you will enjoy discovering more about the goals of our Association and let me kindly thank you for your time dedicated to us.
